Welcome to Fantasy Chess! By using our app, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Fantasy Chess, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Fantasy Chess is a fantasy sports application for chess enthusiasts. Users can:

• Create and join fantasy chess leagues
• Draft real chess players onto their fantasy teams
• Earn points based on actual chess tournament performance
• Compete with friends in private or public leagues

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Requirements

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Fantasy Chess
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You may not share your account with others

3.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

4. Fantasy Scoring System

4.1 Data Sources

• Player ratings: FIDE (International Chess Federation)
• Tournament results: Lichess broadcasts and official tournament sources
• Move analysis: Stockfish 17 chess engine

5. User Conduct

5.1 Prohibited Activities

You may not:

• Use automated bots or scripts
• Manipulate or exploit the scoring system
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
• Share inappropriate content in league chats
• Create multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages
• Attempt to access other users' accounts

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

• The Fantasy Chess app, design, and features are owned by us
• You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content
• Chess game data and player information are sourced from public databases

6.2 Third-Party Content and Attribution

Fantasy Chess aggregates and displays content from various third-party sources. We acknowledge and provide attribution to:

Our news feed displays article headlines and links from:

• ChessBase (chessbase.com) - Chess news articles and content
• Chess.com (chess.com) - Chess news articles and content
• FIDE (fide.com) - Official chess federation news and announcements

We display article titles and summaries with direct links to the original articles on their respective websites. We do not host the full articles or claim ownership of this content.

Data Sources:

• FIDE - Player ratings and official tournament information
• Lichess - Tournament broadcasts and game data
• Stockfish - Chess engine for move analysis

All third-party content remains the property of its respective owners. We provide links to original sources and do not claim ownership of this content. When you access external links, you are subject to the terms of service and privacy policies of those third-party websites.

6.3 User Content

• You retain ownership of content you create (team names, league names)
• By using the app, you grant us a license to display your content
• We may remove content that violates these terms

7. Disclaimers

7.1 No Gambling

Fantasy Chess is a free entertainment service. There is no real money wagering, prizes, or gambling involved.

7.2 Accuracy

While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee:

• 100% uptime or availability
• Error-free scoring calculations
• Complete or timely tournament data

7.3 Third-Party Data

We rely on third-party sources (FIDE, Lichess, tournament organizers) for chess data. We are not responsible for errors in their data.

8. Limitation of Liability

Fantasy Chess is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

• Data loss or corruption
• Service interruptions
• Scoring errors or disputes
• Any damages arising from use of the app

Maximum liability: Limited to the amount you paid to use the app (currently $0, as the app is free).

9. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

• We use industry-standard security measures
• You can request account deletion at any time

10. Fantasy League Rules and Disclaimers

Fantasy Chess leagues are skill-based competitions for entertainment purposes only. No purchase is necessary to participate.

Official Rules:

• No prizes, money, or rewards are awarded
• Participation is voluntary and for entertainment only

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via in-app notifications or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
